My name is John Davidson and I am a senior NHS Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Liverpool. I head the specialist arthroscopy team here at Alliance Surgical, who together perform many arthroscopies in the UK each year.

Our way of treating you as a patient who may require an arthroscopy promises to give you the very best of what you need and will get you back to normality in the shortest amount of time possible.

You will come to see one of the team for an initial consultation where we will request any simple tests and x-rays which may be required to help decide if an arthroscopy is your best course of action. If we decide a procedure is necessary, we will discuss your treatment plan, a convenient date for you to come into hospital, your anaesthetic options, and most importantly the date you will walk out of hospital, normally on the same day.

Typically, on the day of surgery, you will come into hospital and within 2-3 hours you will walk to theatre for your procedure which should take no longer than an hour. You will have scheduled physiotherapy visits and you will see your consultant again. Most importantly and in the vast majority of cases, your treatment will run according to the plan made at that first meeting, and you will walk out of hospital on the date we discussed.
