My name is Bruce Braithwaite and I am a senior NHS Consultant Surgeon based in Nottingham, and I head the specialist hernia repair team here at Alliance Surgical.
As a hernia sufferer you may find the area uncomfortable and tender and it can often restrict your daily activity. The Alliance Surgical way of treating you as a hernia patient is aimed at getting you well and back to normality in the shortest time possible and supporting you all the way.
From your very first consultation we will confirm if you have a hernia, requesting any simple tests as may be required. We will then discuss together your full treatment plan, deciding on a convenient date for you to come into hospital, your anaesthetic options and your recovery plan. Most importantly we will confirm when you will be able to leave hospital, normally on the same day.

If surgery is required, you will typically be admitted on the day and taken to theatre. The operation whether it be open or keyhole will take approximately 30 minutes to complete, and is frequently now done using a local anaesthetic which speeds up your recovery time greatly. You will be taken to your room to recover, be visited again by your consultant and normally be able to leave hospital on the same day.
Our main priority is always you, the patient, and providing you with the outstanding care you deserve. We aim to make your healthcare affordable, by removing any inflated hospital bills or unnecessary extras and providing you with the absolute best, but only of what you need, and we guarantee by coming directly to the surgeon this is what you get. |
